Information on Renting:


Rental Contracts:

You must register your rental contract with the government office in order for it to be supported by Belgian law. You need to take a photocopy of your contract plus the original with you and it costs around 30€ to register it (25€ for the "fiscale zegels" (official stamps) and 5€ fee).

If you live in any of the Brugge postcodes, the registration office is at Gulden Vlieslaan 36 (near Ezelpoort) - and is open Monday-Friday 8-12 (arrive before 11.30) - different districts are on different floors of the building; check out the signs when you get there.

Be sure to take your rental contract with you, as well as any correspondence to and from the landlord.
It costs 12€ to join for a year - pay the first time you go - then you'll be sent a registration letter and number that you have to take with you each subsequent time you go there.
